The Mara Triangle

The Mara Triangle is the northwestern part of the Masai Mara game reserve, Kenya, and is managed by the not-for-profit organisation The Mara Conservancy on behalf of Trans-Mara County Council.

The conservancy is dependent upon visitors’ park fees to fund anti-poaching and de-snaring patrols, without which patrols must be dramatically reduced or ultimately stopped.  Snares are indiscriminate in what they catch and they need support to keep up the fight against poachers and help protect all Mara wildlife.

  1. Home to BBC’s Big Cat Diary and the world famous migration of wildebeest, the Mara Conservancy is responsible for protecting wildlife in the Mara Triangle. Since 2001, they have caught over 1,000 poachers and collected 1,000s of wire snares - saving the lives of thousands of animals.

Widely recognised as a highly efficient park management initiative, the Mara Conservancy - a non-profit organisation - is entirely dependent on park entrance fees. Without this source of revenue, all park operations against poachers have to be stopped and the animals of the Mara Triangle will be under severe threat.

“We could lose the Mara. To preserve it for the benefit of future generations, we must act now.”

Soultweet, thanks for promoting this great cause!
